Check readability at 14pt and 18pt on actual mockups. Not thumbnails. Not previews. Print a label. Drop it into a live Shopify product page. See how it behaves under real conditions.
Compare uppercase vs. lowercase usage. The lowercase set has more personality and better rhythm. Reserve all-caps for very short emphasis—never full names or slogans unless tightly kerned.
Review spacing—especially between ‘r’ + ‘e’ and ‘f’ + ‘l’. Butterbread includes OpenType features, but default tracking may need tightening in dense layouts.
Pair it deliberately. Try it beside a sturdy sans serif (for contrast), a classic serif (for elegance), another script (for layered texture), and even a geometric display font (to test visual tension). Butterbread holds its own—but only when given room to breathe.
